Ontario health officials are set to provide an update on the COVID-19 pandemic and the status of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in the province.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams will be joined by Dr. Dirk Huyer, coordinator of the provincial outbreak response, and Dr. Jessica Hopkins, chief health protection and emergency preparedness officer.
It comes as the province reported the lowest number of new cases since March, with 2,073 reported Tuesday and 15 additional deaths.
When asked Monday what the target number of daily COVID-19 cases should be for the stay-at-home order to be lifted in Ontario, Williams said while there is no definite metric right now, it would have to be “well below” 1000 cases per day for the recommendation to be made.
